Expansion of in-house power generation
Europe's and Germany's climate protection targets also present water management companies with the challenge of expanding their own generation of electricity from renewable energies.
The Ruhrverband supports the ambitious climate protection targets. By expanding its own electricity generation from renewable energies, it is helping to achieve the CO2 reduction targets and at the same time reduce its energy costs. In doing so, it is focussing on energy from wastewater, the use of hydropower and the expansion of photovoltaics. In addition, heat from wastewater is also to be utilised.
In addition, the Ruhrverband is optimising the electricity consumption of its more than 800 water management plants.
