Progressive mobility concept as a contribution to climate protection

Mobility is a basis for entrepreneurial activity and symbolises independence and flexibility in society. However, the transport of people and goods causes considerable greenhouse gas and pollutant emissions. In Germany alone, 19 per cent of CO2 emissions are caused by transport. Business-related transport makes a significant contribution to this, for example through vehicle fleets, business trips or employees travelling to work.

Project Mobil.Pro.Fit.

Ruhrverband is continuously developing its corporate mobility management. It is one of eight companies from the Ruhr region to take part in the Mobil.Pro.Fit. project, which is subsidised by the Federal Ministry for the Environment. With Mobil.Pro.Fit., companies develop practical measures with which they can improve the mobility of their employees, strengthen environmental and climate protection and reduce mobility costs.

In addition to cost savings for the companies, the aim is to increase employee loyalty, motivation and health promotion among the workforce by expanding the choice of transport.

In addition to the company ticket for public transport, the Ruhrverband provides employees who cycle with bicycle parking and charging points as well as shower facilities. The car fleet has now been completely converted to e-cars and e-bikes are available for business use.

In Germany, there are still many prejudices regarding the practicality and cost-effectiveness of the e-car models currently available. There were also reservations and doubts among the staff of the Ruhrverband as to whether e-cars could fulfil the operational requirements. It is undisputed that e-cars utilise the energy supplied much more efficiently than combustion engines. But the range...

Ruhrverband supplies a network of charging points on its premises with self-generated electricity. This means that employees travelling with an electric car can easily top up their range while working at the facilities.

But practice has also shown: In most cases, this is not even necessary. The ranges of modern electric cars are far sufficient to easily serve an association area the size of the Ruhrverband.
