Schmallenberg sewer network
Ruhrverband has been responsible for the technical management of the sewer network since 1 October 2011. On 1 October 2017, the town of Schmallenberg then transferred the wastewater disposal obligation to the Ruhrverband in accordance with Section 52 (2) of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Water Act. This makes the town of Schmallenberg the first NRW municipality to utilise this transfer option.
The technical and organisational management of the sewer network is carried out by the Ruhrverband's subsidiary, RWG Ruhr-Wasserwirtschafts-Gesellschaft mbH with a branch in Arnsberg.
The sewer network is connected to six Ruhrverband wastewater treatment plants.
