Welcome on board: New trainees at Ruhrverband
On 1 August and 1 September 2025, 25 young people started their training at Ruhrverband. With over 800 operating facilities from Brilon to Duisburg, Ruhrverband ensures that 4.6 million people have access to sufficient quantities of good quality water at all times. In order to be able to continue to fulfil this important task in the future, the Ruhrverband's training team is looking forward to training new talent in both commercial and industrial/technical professions and thus promoting the skilled workers of tomorrow.
The 25 trainees are learning one of the following professions:
- Chemical laboratory technician (m/f/d)
- IT specialist for system integration (m/f/d)
- Fish farmer (m/f/d)
- Forest manager (m/f/d)
- Office management assistant (m/f/d)
- Construction mechanic (m/f/d)
- Industrial mechanic (m/f/d)
- Environmental technologist for wastewater management (m/f/d)
- Electronics technician for industrial engineering (m/f/d)
In the first few weeks of training, the focus is on getting to know each other and team building. A first highlight took place on 5 September: All new trainees from the nine training locations - including industrial mechanics from Dortmund and office management assistants from Essen - met at a joint breakfast in the Historical Collection in Essen. After the official welcome by HR Director Carolin-Beate Fieback and CFO Christoph Gerbersmann, the Ruhrverband and central contact persons were introduced. There was then plenty of time for personal discussions and making initial contacts.
A special experience of the day was the joint tour of the Langenbrahm sewage sludge treatment plant, which offered exciting insights into everyday working life at Ruhrverband.
"The shortage of skilled labour is a key challenge - so we are all the more pleased to have once again inspired committed young people for the water industry and its diverse tasks this year," says Carolin-Beate Fieback, Head of Human Resources. "On behalf of the Executive Board, we wish our new trainees an exciting and instructive time and a successful start to their professional future at Ruhrverband," adds Christoph Gerbersmann.
