WaterVision
On 19 May 2025, the nationwide educational event "WasserVision - Water is life." will be a guest in Plettenberg. A total of around 700 pupils from the Albert Schweitzer Grammar School and the Geschwister Scholl Secondary School will be taking part. The event is supported by the Ruhrverband. As a representative of the press, we cordially invite you to the event.
Every person, every plant needs water. We need it to grow our food, as drinking water, for the production of industrial goods, consumer goods and energy. Our energy- and water-intensive lifestyle as well as water waste and pollution have a huge impact on people and nature. The situation is exacerbated by a rapidly growing world population and advancing climate change, which is leading to more and more extreme weather events with consequences such as flooding or prolonged periods of drought. Water is traded as a commodity, privatised, polluted, overused and wasted. It is time for a rethink. How can we achieve sustainable and globally equitable water management? What can we do to protect ourselves and our water and what can each individual do to help? Water concerns us all!
"With innovative concepts such as the sponge city and modern water and wastewater treatment, we are working together to secure our future. The WasserVision education project raises awareness of the responsible use of water as a precious resource." - Sören Janssen, Member of the Board of Multivision e.V.
The event enables young people to engage with the topic of "water" in a holistic and interdisciplinary way from a scientific, political, economic and ethical perspective. They are motivated to take a stand and help shape their future. In this way, "WasserVision - Water is Life" supports educational work for sustainable development in schools. We have a mission. We want to inform young people about the key facts that threaten us and our environment and show them the global connections. How can we find solutions and visions for sustainable development? We are all shaping tomorrow's world today.
We cordially invite you to the event in Plettenberg and look forward to your visit. Our presenters and guests will be available to you as interview partners on site:
On Monday, 19 May 2025 in the auditorium of the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium, sessions at 07:40,
