On 17 March 2025, around 100 employees of Franz Sales Werkstätten collected rubbish and litter on the paths and grass verges on both sides of the Ruhr from the Kampmannbrücke bridge to the old railway bridge and in the park by the sports hall. This was the first time that Franz Sales Werkstätten had taken part in the city of Essen's SauberZauber campaign.
At 9.30 a.m., the highly motivated collectors, equipped with bags and tongs, swarmed out from the Essen-Kupferdreh sewage treatment plant in several groups. In addition to cigarette butts and bottles, the cheerful groups also collected unusual finds such as clothing, an old lamp and a broken plastic chair. Over the course of the morning, numerous bulging rubbish bags were collected. "The campaign was a real success," summarised Thomas Graf, Operations Manager of the Kupferdreh workshop. "Our employees did something good for the environment and had a great community experience in the process."
The Ruhrverband, one of the sponsors of the SauberZauber, also contributed to this. It provided drinks for the hard-working helpers at two stations and also donated barbecued sausages for the employees' final joint activity.
