Safety first: Ruhrverband closes edge path at the Sorpe dam

Current weather conditions bring with them the risk of snow breakage

Due to the current weather conditions, the Ruhrverband is closing the edge path at the Sorpe Dam with immediate effect as a precautionary measure until probably Monday, 13 January 2025. This measure is in the interests of road safety and the protection of all visitors.

The snowfall of the past few days and the associated risk of snow breakage make this precautionary measure necessary. In particular, there is a risk of branches breaking off due to the snow load and visitors to the dam coming to harm. In addition, isolated slippery spots make it difficult to walk safely on the edge path.

The safety of recreational visitors is a top priority for the Ruhrverband. Regular checks will be carried out during the closure to monitor the situation on site and restore the path's accessibility as quickly as possible. As soon as the weather and conditions allow, the edge path will be reopened. We ask for your understanding for this precautionary measure and for observing the barriers.
