Ruhrverband starts construction work on the reservoir canal in Hattingen

Rainwater retention basin in Niedersprockhövel is also being remodelled

In the 18th week of the calendar year, the Ruhrverband began setting up the construction site for extensive renovation work on the reservoir canal on Bredenscheider Straße in Hattingen. The Niedersprockhövel rainwater retention basin (RRB) is also to be rebuilt.
The construction work is expected to take five to six months - depending on the weather, this period may be slightly delayed.

Renovation of the reservoir canal on Bredenscheider Straße
The work on the reservoir canal is part of a necessary renovation project. The plans include replacing the existing throttle and converting the overflow structure and the throttle shaft. The throttle shaft will be rebuilt first before the overflow structure is renovated. No traffic restrictions are expected for residents of Bredenscheider Straße. The construction site is located parallel to the road on the grounds of the municipal building yard, whose existing access road will be used.
Conversion work on the Niedersprockhövel stormwater retention basin

Extensive conversion work is also planned for the Niedersprockhövel stormwater retention basin. This includes lowering the emergency overflow, raising the basin floor, converting the outlet shaft, installing new fencing and finalising the surface work. In the course of these measures, there will be restrictions for pedestrian traffic in the neighbouring Malakowturm park. Access will be restricted at times.

The Ruhrverband asks for your understanding for the necessary work.
