Ruhrverband continues sewer rehabilitation work in Hattingen

This week, the Ruhrverband began a further phase of works to renovate the sewers in the Hattingen area. The works are expected to continue until the end of September.

The sewer rehabilitation is being carried out using the trenchless in-line lining method as a moving construction site. Work on Bochumer Straße will begin in the Oberwinzerfeld area and continue in sections as far as Dahlhauser Straße. Accordingly, the work areas will shift continuously along the route.

To carry out the work, no-stopping zones must be put in place in the respective construction sections. It is essential to observe these so that the renovation work can be carried out quickly and smoothly. As the construction site moves section by section, no-stopping zones may be required several times in individual areas. The traffic signs will each be marked with the current periods of validity. The Ruhrverband therefore asks residents in particular to check the signage regularly and to take note of the dates indicated.

During calendar weeks 30 to 33, some work will also be carried out at night for technical reasons.

Trenchless method minimises disruption
The rehabilitation is absolutely essential due to the damage identified in the sewers and cannot be avoided or postponed. To minimise the impact on residents and road traffic as much as possible, a trenchless rehabilitation method is being used. This involves pulling a synthetic resin-impregnated liner into the existing sewer, pressing it against the pipe wall and then allowing it to cure. Before installation, the sewers are thoroughly cleaned and inspected using a camera survey.

The project as a whole covers around 4.5 kilometres of sewer network in the following streets: Bachstraße, Bochumer Straße, Brahmsstraße, Brucknerstraße, Hackstückstraße, Holschentor, Oberwinzerfeld, Oststraße, Otto-Hue-Straße, Pottacker, Südring and Talstraße. The works are expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The Ruhrverband asks everyone affected to bear with us regarding the necessary works and the associated restrictions, particularly with regard to parking. The aim is to limit road closures and no-stopping zones to what is strictly necessary and to keep disruption to a minimum.
