The Ruhrverband, which is responsible for comprehensive river basin management in the Ruhr catchment area, has published its first sustainability and financial report for the year 2024. The report is available in PDF format at https://ruhrverband.de/services/publikationen-und-downloads on the company website. Ruhrverband is a DNK user, i.e. its sustainability reporting is based on the criteria of the German Sustainability Code (DNK) developed by the German Council for Sustainable Development. The DNK declaration of conformity was prepared for the first time for 2023 and can also be viewed on the Ruhrverband website and in the DNK database. Work is currently underway on the declaration for 2024.

The transparent disclosure of its business activities in relation to the three pillars of sustainability (environment, social affairs and corporate governance) is an important control parameter for the association in its sustainability strategy, as it documents progress in the achievement of objectives and helps to identify opportunities and risks in connection with sustainability performance. "As an important player in the provision of water management services of general interest, the Ruhrverband is expected to fulfil high standards when it comes to the impact of its corporate governance on the environment and society. Our report shows how we, as an environmental and production company, live up to our responsibility and work continuously and purposefully on optimisation," explains CEO Prof. Christoph Donner.

"Open communication about sustainability is also important in the competition for qualified specialists, as many younger people in particular are looking for meaningful work and an employer whose values they can identify with."

As Ruhrverband is not obliged to report on aspects of sustainability and corporate social responsibility, publication in accordance with the DNK is voluntary.
