Baldeneysee: Ruhrverband renews access road to the Baldeney weir

Diversions for pedestrians and cyclists via Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße and golf course

The Ruhrverband has started to renew the private access road to the Baldeney weir and run-of-river power station. The heavy goods traffic of recent years, both due to the renovation work on the weir system and the container transport required for the operation of the RWE run-of-river power station, has taken a heavy toll on the cobblestones of the access road. Deep potholes and ruts have formed. In order to restore the serviceability and load-bearing capacity of the access road, the cobblestones will be replaced with an asphalt surface.

The access road will be fully closed for the duration of the construction work. Exceptions will be made for essential container transport and for emergency vehicles. A diversion has been set up for pedestrians and cyclists; it runs via Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße and the ETUF site (golf course) to the weir. The work is expected to last until the end of December 2025. The Ruhrverband asks for your understanding for any necessary restrictions.
