Abtskücher Straße will be closed on one side in the area between the Flurweg junction and the car park above the pond due to construction work. The closure will take place from 18 March 2025 until probably 11 May 2025.
During the construction work, a traffic light system (traffic light control) will be set up to keep traffic flowing safely. The half-sided closure is necessary for the sewer construction work to connect the Abtsküche sewage treatment plant to the sewage treatment plant in Essen-Kettwig. In the area of the closure, a new pressure pipeline will be laid over a length of around 200 metres from the existing pumping station to the connection shaft in the car park above the pond. A manhole will also be constructed in the car park.
As soon as the installation of the penstock along Abtskücher Straße has been completed, the closed section will be shortened accordingly. Traffic and construction site planning will take special account of possible rescue operations. Some of the parking spaces in the car park in the area of the pumping station will be reopened in the near future.
