Since 1999, the Ruhrverband has been committed to supporting outstanding engineering and science students at renowned universities in North Rhine-Westphalia with the "Ruhr Water Scholarship". Thanks to this support, around 30 scholarship holders have so far been able to conduct research at various international universities and produce remarkable diploma, master's and degree theses. The cross-border exchange of knowledge made possible by this scholarship also benefits the universities in the region.

Since the 2011 winter semester, the "Ruhr Water Scholarship" has been part of the "Germany Scholarship". Scholarship holders are now selected by the universities according to the criteria of the Ruhrverband.

In addition to financial support, the prospective engineers and scientists benefit from valuable practical experience that they can gain during internships at Ruhrverband. The scholarship holders also have the opportunity to write their final theses directly at Ruhrverband.
