Transparent reporting on the water quality of the Ruhr for over 50 years

The Ruhr Quality Report, which has been published annually since 1973, has been presenting the current situation and development of the water and water quality of the Ruhr, its tributaries and reservoirs in a transparent and comprehensible manner for over 50 years.

In addition to the pure documentation of quality conditions, specific issues relating to chemistry, limnology, ecology, climate change, urban water management and river basin management are discussed.

These are answered on the basis of long-term developments against the background of the current expert discussion. The Ruhr Quality Report is not only an important source of information for experts in the natural and engineering sciences as well as decision-makers in politics and administration, but also a "treasure trove" for science, which receives suggestions, tips and information from practice.

Numerous enquiries from the academic world confirm the scientific value of the Ruhr Quality Report. In particular, the public also benefits from the extensive facts on the quality of raw water for drinking water supply and other water uses, on the protection of natural resources and on the condition of the "water on our doorstep". The quality report informs, documents and describes, shows trends in development, provides impulses for the public and experts and helps to orientate water management activities in the entire Ruhr river catchment area.
