Maintenance is the backbone of plant operations
The Central Maintenance Department – IME for short – is conveniently situated at the A40/45 motorway junction in Dortmund Oespel. In addition to the regional workshops and their respective work areas, a department with around 90 staff members has been established here, which is responsible for specialised tasks. Specialised teams handle the maintenance of larger pumps, drives and biogas plants, including combined heat and power units. As a certified welding contractor, the centre also carries out extensive work, particularly in pipework construction, carried out by certified welders. In the field of electrical engineering, the company specialises in PLC programming, tasks relating to process control technology, 10 kV switchgear and safety-critical explosion protection.
In addition to the workshops, there is a large warehouse where spare and replacement parts are kept in stock. This ensures that damaged units or plant components can be repaired quickly in the event of a fault.
Practical training
The central workshop in Dortmund-Oespel is also a key training centre for the Ruhrverband, providing training for construction mechanics and electronics technicians specialising in industrial engineering. Over 20 young people are currently undergoing training in Dortmund. The variety of tasks and workshops at this site offers a highly qualified and interesting training programme with a strong practical focus and a guarantee of permanent employment. These young people will form the backbone of the plant’s operational staff in the future.
